MSP Training in the Private Sector
When a global utilities company faced a significant regulatory change in one of their key markets, they recognised that they had a major business change opportunity. As frequently happens with opportunities, any failure to exploit the situation fully could lead to the loss of their market leadership. Stuart Flatt takes up the story.
The client decided to use MSP as the tool of choice for achieving a radical transformation of the company. The scale of the exercise was enormous - tens of thousands of employees, billions of pounds of turnover and programmes that lasted for decades.
They chose AFA as their training partner. AFA offered a unique blend of unrivalled understanding of the MSP method, credibility in applying MSP in major programmes and substantial training capability.
AFA ran briefings for all the company directors, union leaders, regulators, interest groups and local politicians. We then tailored a foreshortened Foundation exam course, incorporating briefings on the company's situation. We also ran hybrid Foundation training and workshop events for local programme management teams. Selected staff were fast-tracked to Practitioner level by attending AFA open courses. Finally a tailored Conversion course was developed to bring staff trained at Foundation level up to Practitioner status within an agreed timeframe.
