PRINCE2 has been under continuous improvement for more than a decade. The robust and pragmatic framework provides you with: Principles The underlying basic ideas of project management are expressed as seven simple principles that: • Have been proven in practice • Apply to all projects and • Empower you by explaining what you should be aiming for Themes Some elements, such as making plans and monitoring progress, need to be managed continuously, throughout a project. PRINCE2 explains a comprehensive set of just seven themes that will ensure you consider all aspects of a project. But PRINCE2 goes further by adding a specific PRINCE2 treatment for each theme and integrating them tightly into a coherent way of considering the whole project from start to finish. Processes The seven PRINCE2 processes describe the activities that need to be considered at each step during the life of the project. They link the triggers for each step with the information about the project that needs to be created or updated and make clear who should be doing what.  

For a single project PRINCE2: • Shows how the business case can assure continuing project viability • Gives a comprehensive set of roles and responsibilities that fit together into a robust governance framework • Prevents overload by emphasising delegation and management by exception but ensures, clear comprehensive and timely reporting of the key aspects of the project • Helps everyone focus on what will be delivered - the products - not just the activity of the project. And for the organisation PRINCE2 will help: • Embed structured project management in the organisation in order to give the right level of repeatability, without bureaucracy. This is known as project management maturity. • Tailor project management for each individual project to give the right focus to achieve success. Then more broadly PRINCE2 integrates seamlessly with the other practices needed for delivering change, from portfolio and programme management to the people side of change.  

AFA sat on the review panel for the PRINCE2 2009 refresh project as well as piloting the new examinations. Also the 'Tailoring PRINCE2' chapter, which now forms an integral part of the PRINCE2 2009 guidance is adapted from the OGC publication, 'Tailoring PRINCE2', which was written by AFA's managing director, Alan Ferguson.

Many AFA trainers and consultants have served on the editing teams and review panels for all recent updates of the guidance manuals; several AFA consultants also act as examiners and assessors for one or more of the methodologies.

We are one of the few Accredited Training Organisations to develop and offer a specially designed Re-registration course for registered Practitioners who passed their exam 4 or more years ago.
