P3O (Portfolio, Programme & Project Offices Launch)

AFA’s Managing Director Alan Ferguson attended the launch of the new Portfolio, Programme & Project Offices (P3O) guidance at Millbank Tower on 28th October.

The purpose of the P3O event, hosted by OGC, TSO and the APM Group, was two-fold: to inform the PPM community of this new offering from the Office of Government Commerce and to thank those who contributed to the development of the product. Alan, who took part in the reviewing process, is convinced that the new guidance will support the set-up and maintenance of these important corporate facilities. He agrees with lead author Sue Vowler that it answers the question 'why' for departmental heads and senior managers, and the question 'what' for programme level managers. In addition the sections on tools and techniques give P3O staff answers to the question 'how'.

AFA is offering a schedule of P3O training courses in London & Cambridge throughout 2009 for those wishing to gain a greater understanding of the guidance.
