AFA was recently invited to attend and speak at a PMO Symposium event in Germany.

At the recent PMO Symposium in Hamburg AFA’s managing director Alan Ferguson highlighted the advantages of using OGC’s P3O guidance. The symposium took place in the prestigious Elysee Hotel and included a gala dinner on the River Elbe onboard the MS Hamburg. The event was arranged by ifanO www.ifano.de and Maxence www.maxence.de, with keynote addresses from experts based in Canada, the US, Germany & Switzerland. On Day One Alan delivered a very well-received P3O Overview to 36 delegates. He explained how the P3O guidance can be used to set up, develop and operate a portfolio, project or programme management office. Delegates were delighted to find that pragmatic and flexible guidance was readily available in an easily accessible format. As ever Alan was able to provide many meaningful examples and illustrations from his wide range of experience. On Days Two & Three as well as being available to answer specific questions from Symposium delegates Alan delivered his presentation ‘Practices for Delivering Change’, see here for more information. The Symposium ended with a Final Discussion and Summary chaired by Prof. Dr. Michael Amberg, to which Alan was an entertaining and thought provoking contributor.
